FRANZ LISZT’S NIGHT
Franz Liszt’s original instruments exhibited in his long-ago apartment are played only once a year: on Museums’ Night, this year June 24th. The Franz Liszt Memorial Museum offers programs from afternoon to the small hours: fanfares on the balcony, guided tours accompanied with instrument shows, musical quizzes and certainly concerts. Museums’ Night opens at 7:30 p.m. with Balázs Fülei’s solo recital for music lovers featuring Chopin, Mendelssohn and Schubert pieces.
SOLO RECITAL AT NIZHNY NOVGOROD
This time Debussy’s Night in Granada, a piano cycle recalling the heat and high spirits of Andalusian nights plays far from the Mediterranean world, in a very different environment: Nizhny Novgorod lies at the watersmeet of the rivers Volga and Oka. Besides Debussy Balázs Fülei will play Beethoven, Liszt, Bartók and Kodály on his June 13th solo recital at the Hungarian Days arranged at Glinka Conservatory.
"HUNGARIAN JUSTICE IS THREE. AND AN ENCORE."
"Is there a country in the world where sausage is made of sausage? Where we splash schnaps out of water-pistols and where fitness-ladies are downright sadists?" The 4th and last volume of What are Hungarians like? show us ourselves in a mocking glass. After three successful musical evenings the writer and poet János Lackfi and Balázs Fülei welcome their audience for the fourt time on June 15th at Óbudai Társaskör. In between the stories of Hungarian absurd Balázs Fülei plays works of Brahms, Liszt and Bartók.
MUZSIKÁS GROUP TOUR DRAWING TO END
It is an exceptionally uniqe experience that Allegro Barbaro’s piano performance is completed with two gardons and and a double-bass. The joint concert of Muzsikás and Balázs Fülei is really an unequalled and singular performance based by pieces of Bartók and Kodály themselves inspired by folk songs. Those willing to share can join the last of the six stops of the tour.
ECHO SUMMER ACADEMY AGAIN
Hungarian chamber music tradition and the opportunity that participants may play together with course masters both during the course and in concerts attracted several applicants to Echo Summer Academy last year as well. The course will be held for the second time this year at Károlyi Castle of Fehérvárcsurgó between July 8-15. Applications are welcome till June 6th.
