A new CD by the Auer Trio was released before Christmas with pieces by Haydn, Beethoven and Mendelssohn.
Haydn's Trio in C major composed in 1795 and dedicated to Marie von Esterházy is followed by Beethoven's Trio in D major, as widely known, the Ghost Trio – the name given by Beethoven's student, Carl Czerny. The closing piece of the record is Mendelssohn's Trio in D minor written in 1839 in Frankfurt by the newly married composer. The trio has quickly become popular and its success was also enhanced by Mendelssohn himself sitting at the piano during the trio's world premiere in 1841 in Leipzig as well as its premiere in London in 1843.
